Asparagus sprengerii – The green feather for stylish indoor and outdoor spaces

Asparagus sprengerii, known as asparagus fern or plumosa asparagus, is one of the most elegant and versatile ornamental plants: its slender, arching stems, covered with soft, feathery, bright green cladodes, create a light and refined cascading effect that is perfect for pots, shelves, planters, and floral arrangements. A plant that brings freshness and lightness to any indoor or outdoor space.

Plant characteristics

• Pot diameter: 12 cm
• Plant height: approximately 25 cm
• Slender, arching stems with soft, feathery, bright green cladodes
• Light, trailing growth habit, ideal for shelves and planters
• Produces small, fragrant white flowers and decorative red berries
• Excellent as a companion plant in floral arrangements
• Suitable for both bright indoor spaces and sheltered outdoor areas

Care and maintenance

• Light: bright indirect light or partial shade – avoid direct sunlight, which causes the cladodes to yellow; it tolerates partial shade well
• Watering: regular but moderate – the substrate should remain slightly moist; avoid waterlogging and prolonged drought, which cause yellowing
• Temperature: ideally between 12°C and 28°C; tolerates brief drops to 5°C; excellent for indoor growing all year round
• Humidity: enjoys humid environments; mist the stems regularly, especially in winter when the heating is on
• Fertilization: every 3-4 weeks in spring and summer with a balanced liquid fertilizer
• Pruning: remove dry or yellowing stems to maintain a tidy shape and encourage new growth

Asparagus sprengerii is the ideal plant for anyone seeking lightness and natural beauty: with its feathery texture and bright green color, it brings a touch of botanical freshness to every corner of the home or garden, all year round.
