How to care for a pineapple

Our tips for helping it grow healthy and strong

Ananas comosus, commonly known as the pineapple, is a perennial plant native to South America. At our company, the pineapple is appreciated not only for its delicious fruit but also for its exotic appearance, which adds a tropical touch to any setting. It requires specific care to thrive, but with the right attention, it will reward you with its unique beauty.

The right spot

Pineapples love bright, direct light. To get the best out of your plant, place it somewhere it can receive plenty of natural light. If possible, a south-facing window is ideal. Remember that good light exposure is essential for the plant's healthy growth.

When and how to water it

Water the pineapple when the soil feels dry to the touch. In summer, this may mean watering every 7 days, while every 14 days will be enough in winter. To check the soil moisture, stick a finger into the substrate: if it feels dry, it's time to water.

Temperature and humidity

Pineapples thrive in temperatures between 18°C and 25°C. Avoid temperatures below 10°C. The ideal humidity is around 40% to 60%. Maintaining these conditions will help the plant grow lushly.

The right fertilizer

In spring and summer, fertilize the pineapple every 30 days with a balanced fertilizer. This will help the plant develop healthily and vigorously, supporting the growth of its leaves and, eventually, its fruit.

The pot and soil

Use well-draining soil made of sand and peat to ensure the right balance of moisture and aeration. Repotting is rarely needed, but make sure the pot has good drainage to prevent root rot.

How to propagate it

Pineapples can be propagated using crown cuttings. This technique requires a little patience and care. Make sure the cuttings are completely dry before planting them to encourage successful rooting.

Our final tip

The pineapple is a plant that, with the right care, can become a true tropical jewel in your home. Pay attention to watering and light, and you'll be rewarded with a healthy, decorative plant.
