The right location

Alocasia frydek prefers bright, indirect light. It is important to place it somewhere where it can receive plenty of light without being exposed to direct sunlight, which could damage its delicate leaves. An east- or west-facing window is ideal for providing the right amount of light.

When and how to water it

During the summer, we recommend watering your Alocasia every 7 days, while in winter, every 14 days is sufficient. It is important to check the soil moisture by inserting a finger into the substrate: water only when the top layer is dry. This will help prevent overwatering problems.

Temperature and humidity

Alocasia frydek thrives in temperatures between 18 and 25 degrees Celsius, but can tolerate up to 30 degrees. It is essential to maintain high humidity, at least 60%, to ensure its well-being. If the air is too dry, consider using a humidifier or misting the leaves regularly.

The right fertilizer

During spring and summer, fertilize your Alocasia once a month with a balanced liquid fertilizer. This will provide the nutrients needed to support its vigorous growth and keep the leaves green and healthy.

The pot and soil

For the substrate, choose well-draining soil rich in organic matter. An ideal mix could include peat, perlite, and bark. Make sure the pot has drainage holes to prevent waterlogging, which could cause root rot.

How to propagate it

Alocasia frydek is propagated by dividing the rhizomes. This method is moderately difficult, but with a little care, it is possible to grow new plants. Make sure each division has at least one node to ensure successful propagation.
