Asparagus densiflorus – The green cascade for stylish indoor and outdoor spaces

Asparagus densiflorus, also known as foxtail fern, is an exceptionally elegant and versatile ornamental plant: its arching branches, densely covered with small, soft and luminous bright-green cladodes, create a lush, natural shape that is perfectly suited to pots, planters, terraces and bright interiors. A plant that brings freshness, volume and botanical beauty to any setting.

Plant characteristics

• Pot diameter: 18 cm
• Plant height: approximately 50 cm
• Dense, arching branches with soft, airy bright-green cladodes
• Bushy, trailing habit with impressive decorative volume
• Produces small, fragrant white flowers and decorative red berries
• Excellent as a standalone plant or in mixed arrangements
• Suitable for both bright interiors and sheltered outdoor spaces

Care and maintenance

• Light: bright indirect light or partial shade – avoid direct sunlight, which causes the cladodes to turn yellow; it tolerates medium light well
• Watering: regular but moderate – the substrate should remain slightly moist; avoid waterlogging and extended dry periods, which cause the cladodes to yellow and fall
• Temperature: ideal between 12°C and 28°C; tolerates brief drops to 5°C; excellent for year-round indoor cultivation
• Humidity: it appreciates humid environments; mist the branches regularly, especially in winter when the heating is on
• Fertilizing: every 3-4 weeks in spring and summer with a balanced liquid fertilizer
• Pruning: remove dry or yellowing branches to maintain its lush habit and encourage new growth

Asparagus densiflorus is the ideal plant for anyone looking for volume, lightness and a natural feel: with its dense texture and bright-green foliage, it brings a touch of Mediterranean woodland into the home or onto the terrace, all year round and with minimal effort.
