Akadama Ibaraki Substrate – 2-Liter Package – Fine Grain
The Akadama Ibaraki 2 L Fine Grain substrate is one of the most highly regarded growing media worldwide for cultivating bonsai. Extracted and selected in Japan, this type of volcanic clay is particularly suitable for ensuring a perfect balance between drainage, water retention, and root oxygenation.
The fine grain (1–4 mm) makes it ideal for small bonsai, young plants, or recently rooted plants. Akadama’s porous structure promotes the development of a strong root system, preventing waterlogging and improving air circulation in the pot.
This substrate is particularly suitable for combining with other components (such as pumice or kanuma) to create custom mixes based on the species being grown.
