Solanum pseudocapsicum D.17 H.40 cm

Solanum pseudocapsicum – Berry Color for Autumn and Winter

Solanum pseudocapsicum, also known as Jerusalem cherry or ornamental nightshade, is a compact evergreen shrub prized for its small round orange-red berries, which stand out against the glossy green foliage and remain on the plant for weeks. It is one of the most popular decorative plants of the cold season, ideal for adding a touch of color to balconies, terraces, windowsills, and bright areas of the home.

Plant characteristics

• Pot diameter: 17 cm
• Plant height: approximately 40 cm
• Evergreen shrub with a bushy, compact habit
• Decorative orange-red berries that ripen from green to orange
• Deep green, glossy foliage
• Suitable outdoors in sheltered areas and indoors in bright, cool environments

Care and maintenance

• Light: it loves bright light; outdoors, place it in a sunny or partially shaded position, and indoors, near a bright window
• Watering: regular, keeping the soil slightly moist but without water stagnating in the saucer; reduce watering in winter
• Temperature: ideally between 10°C and 18°C; the berries last longer in cool environments. It is sensitive to frost: protect it below 5°C
• Humidity: avoid excessively dry air and placing it near radiators, which may cause the berries to drop
• Fertilization: every 2-3 weeks from spring to late summer with liquid fertilizer for flowering plants

Warning: ornamental plant

The berries of Solanum pseudocapsicum are decorative but inedible and toxic if ingested: keep the plant out of the reach of children, dogs, and cats.

Solanum pseudocapsicum is the ideal plant for anyone looking to add a natural splash of color during the colder months: easy to care for, vibrant, and eye-catching, it is perfect for decorating the home or as a seasonal gift.
