Aechmea: a hardy and long-lasting bromeliad:
Among indoor bromeliads, Aechmea stands out for its hardiness, longevity and spectacular appearance. Its inflorescence - the colorful central spike emerging from the rosette of leaves - is one of the longest-lasting in the world of flowering houseplants: it can retain its vibrant colors for 3-6 months, much longer than most flowering plants. The rigid, glossy, strap-shaped leaves, often decorated with silver transverse bands or spots that create highly elegant patterns, are beautiful and decorative even outside the flowering period. At 60 cm tall with a 15 cm pot, Aechmea has a highly striking presence.

The element of surprise makes every purchase a unique experience: you do not know exactly which color you will receive, but you know it will be beautiful.
Aechmea's secret: the central tank:
One of Aechmea's most fascinating features is its central tank - the space at the center of the leaf rosette where water collects. In nature, in the tropical forests of South America, this tank is a true miniature ecosystem: rainwater, dead leaves, insects and even small animals such as frogs and salamanders seeking shelter collect there. At home, the tank is the plant's main irrigation point: keeping a little water in it at all times is the secret to a healthy, long-lasting Aechmea.
Care and placement:
Position: Bright indirect light or filtered direct light. Aechmea also tolerates low light well, making it suitable for areas farther inside the home. Avoid intense direct sunlight, which can scorch the leaves.
Watering: The correct method for Aechmea is unique: always keep a little water in the central tank (the center of the leaf rosette) and water the substrate only when it is completely dry. Change the water in the tank every 2-3 weeks to prevent stagnation. Prefer low-lime water.
Temperature: Ideal between 18°C and 27°C. Avoid temperatures below 13°C and cold drafts.
Fertilization: Fertilize with liquid fertilizer diluted to half strength every 4-6 weeks during the growing season, pouring the fertilizer directly into the central tank.
After flowering - the side shoots:
After flowering, the mother plant slowly begins to decline - this is its natural cycle. Before doing so, however, it produces one or more side shoots (called pups in English) at the base of the rosette. Once these shoots reach approximately half the size of the mother plant, they can be separated and replanted in individual pots, producing new plants that will flower in turn. It is a fascinating life cycle that allows Aechmea to renew itself through its shoots.
The original and long-lasting gift:
Aechmea Gemengd Colori Mix D.15 H.60 cm is an original, spectacular and long-lasting gift for any occasion: birthday, housewarming, corporate gift or Mother's Day. Its colorful inflorescence, which lasts for months, and its easy care make it one of the most appreciated flowering plants by those who receive it.
Interesting facts:
The Aechmea genus includes more than 250 species native to the tropical and subtropical forests of Central and South America, from Mexico to Argentina. The name derives from the Greek aichme (spear point), referring to the pointed tips of the leaves. Bromeliads are one of the oldest and most diverse botanical families on the American continent: the pineapple (Ananas comosus) is the best-known bromeliad in the world. In the tropical forests of South America, bromeliad tanks host complete ecosystems: some species of tropical frogs lay their eggs exclusively in bromeliad tanks, which become nurseries for their tadpoles.
Important note: The color of the inflorescence received may vary depending on availability. Every specimen is unique. Images are for illustrative purposes and are not binding.
