The juniper on the cliff.
In Japan, it is said that the juniper is the tree the wind has stopped bending. It grows on cliffs and peaks, where nothing else can take root. The wind twists it, carves it, and shapes it for years—until one day the juniper stops fighting and becomes that shape.
From then on, it is nagi: the calm that follows the storm. The wind passes, but no longer touches it. It has become the landscape itself.
A Kumori Nagi is that moment brought into the home. Not a motionless tree, but a tree that has finished struggling.

Every Nagi is born in our workshops. Four gestures, one story.
The choice of juniper
Even before Nagi, there is juniper. Needles and twigs collected and stabilized through a natural process, then selected one by one: only the liveliest, the densest, those that still hold the scent of the peaks within them.
It is the first gesture, the most silent. A Nagi born from mediocre juniper will never be a true Nagi.
The choice of logs
Every trunk is already a miniature landscape. It has its own twist, its own rhythm, its own breath. Faced with a dozen trunks resting on the linen, we study their curves, weigh their proportions, and imagine the canopy above them. Nothing is bent: we listen.
Only those that already contain the shape of Nagi within them are chosen.
The medallion
Before each Nagi leaves, we attach a small ceramic medallion to it. We shape each one by hand, from raw clay through firing. No two are identical: each bears the fingerprints of its maker, its small imperfections, and the raised signature of the Officine.
It is our label — fragile, alive, real.
The final rite
When the Nagi is ready, we look it over carefully. One final check, a branch straightened, a needle put back in its place. Then we wrap it by hand in tissue paper, place it on a bed of natural wood shavings, and close it in a box bearing its name.
It sets off for your home, protected like a small landscape on a journey.
